Worked Patterns
The book patterns can be reached from the thumbnails above.
(Not all books
are represented, but Unraveled Sleeve has two patterns - one in the book,
another a companion pattern available by mail).
Brazilian Cardinal
This is my first completed needlepoint project that isn't an eyeglasses holder or bookmark. I bought it in Waikiki, Hawaii, having seen these birds bathing in puddles after a rainstorm. To me, their call sounds like, "Sweet? Sweet? Joy, joy, joy!" I haven't decided yet whether I will have it framed or turned into a pillow.

My own first design!
I am a lay eucharistic visitor for the Episcopal Cathedral of Saint Mark. The traveling kits the cathedral has are not - in my opinion and that of the Altar Guild - quite up to the dignity of the occasion. And so I bought a recipe-card box with a top prepared to take an embroidered cloth; and combined parts of several patterns and alphabets into a phrase from one of the prayers I say. I sewed it up, and here it is on the very day I finished it - September 21, the year of our Lord 2002.

I'm Just A Girl Who Can't Say No!
So I embroidered a big fat sign reminding me to say no. I love speaking engagements and teaching classes, but the people at Berkley in New York keep insisting I turn in books on schedule. I have to keep my nose to the keyboard, and not go around having fun. Then I gave the sign to a friend who has a similar problem, and embroidered another for myself...

I Love Chickens
for some reason, and am busily working on a Chicken Quilt.
(It
has a short stroll on stage in Knitting Bones.)
So when I ran into a punchneedle
pattern for a chicken - I simply had to buy the pattern and the equipment and do
it.

Of course, it never stops with one ...

or two ...

or even three! (My friend Maru did this one.)

One lovely thing
about having all these worked patterns around - they make a wonderful display at book-signings.

Doodling Bookmark, Finished April 2007
I designed and made this scarf (December 5, 2007)
The tricky part, of course, is that it's not yarn, nor is it knit. It's a marzipan decoration on top of the cake, which was served at the publication party for Knitting Bones.
